I know Arijit from the time he was with Dunlop India Limited. My firm was involved as Statutory Auditor for one of the Group Companies there. Subsequently Arijit joined B.K.Group of companies and there also I had the privilege of being the statutory auditor for one of the group companies in Cement.Since he was in the finance function and was Group CFO in B.K Group , our interaction level was quite regular and intense.He was extremely aggressive and innovative in his problem solving approach and he had the privilege of having skill sets in both finance and strategy and always retained a strategic view in his approach. I have seen closely how he steered the turn-around of debt ridden B.K Group and made it finally debt free prior to quiting them. Although he is not a CA , his knowledge and understanding of accounting systems and control was amazing. He always took great interest in business process re-engineering and recovered significant amount of old dues from debtors through a massive accounts reconciliation process. His other area of interest was liquidity management and his perseverance in pulling a liquidity starved company ahead was, to my understanding, a great skill set. He also was very innovative fund arranger and managed to get good credit ratings for his company for an international funding initiative. He arranged funding , both project finance as well as working capital , in both the Groups I was associated with him. Other than his strong professional commitment , I found him extremely transparent in his dealings and Arijit also has great man management as well as investors relationship skills required for very senior level assignments.It was indeed wonderful working with him.
